Nicolas Cage Pets

COOL - According to reports, Nicolas Cage bought an octopus that he believed helped him with his acting for a hefty sum of $150,000. The octopus was named "Cool" by Cage and was kept in one of two large aquariums in his Hollywood apartment during the mid-80s. Although Cage hasn't spoken about Cool in a while, it is possible that he may have given him to a zoo, like some of his other exotic pets, such as snakes.

MOBY & SHEBA - Nicolas Cage once owned two albino king cobras. A male cobra named Moby and a female named Sheba. He paid $276,000 to get them. These cobras are known for their highly potent venom. Cage always carried the antivenom with him at all times. He even mentioned them in his talks and how he enjoyed drinking wine while looking at them. He always felt like they want to kill him or are planning his murder. Unfortunately, in 2008, he had to give them away after his neighbours threatened to sue him as they were scared of having such dangerous pets around that could potentially escape and enter their homes.

MERLIN - Cage has a big, fluffy, grey Maine Coon cat that he adopted in 2017. When Lionsgate interviewed him for his movie 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,' they asked him about his best friend. He said, 'Well, my best friend is a cat. His name is Merlin. He's a special cat. He loves being close and cuddly. Sometimes he even jumps into bed and gives me hugs. I might think it's my wife, but nope, it's Merlin. He's a really loving and sweet cat. So, he's my best friend.

HOOGAN - Nicholas Cage has a pet bird named Hoogan, who is an African Pied Crow. Cage says that Hoogan is pretty smart, and they have a special bond. When Cage says "Bye" to Hoogan and leaves the room, Hoogan apparently responds by saying some funny things. He also finds it cool that Hoogan has a bit of a goth vibe.

TIGRA - Cage has a pet cat named Tigra. She is a Toyger cat and has lovely stripes on her fur that make her look like a mini jungle cat. Cage often talks about Tigra in his interviews, saying that she is really sweet and that he's very close to her.

BLACK DRAGON - In April 2023, during an interview on the show "60 Minutes," Nicolas Cage introduced his young Monitor Lizard named Black Dragon. Even though the lizard is tiny right now and lives in a small glass house, Cage said it could grow to be about 6 feet long!

PIG-NOSED TURTLE - During an interview on 60 Minutes in April 2023, Nicolas Cage showcased some of his pets. One adorable moment captured his pet Pig-Nosed Turtle gracefully swimming. Cage had mentioned in a 2022 GQ interview that he might consider donating this freshwater turtle to a zoo in the future.

RAZZMATAZZ - Nicolas has always adored cats. When he was a kid, he thought of them as his closest pals. He even had a rescued cat named Razzmatazz, who became his best buddy as he grew up.

HARVEY - In 2007, actor Nicholas Cage bought an extremely rare two-headed Gopher Snake for $80,000. He named him Harvey after the Batman villain Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. Taking care of the snake was tough, and Nicholas Cage had a hard time feeding it properly. So, in 2009, he decided to give the snake to the Audubon Zoo. Sadly he passed away in 2021 at the age of 14.

MICHAEL - In 2008, Nicolas Cage got a pet lizard named Michael. This lizard was a Speckled Asian Water Monitor, and it grew to be about 5 feet long. However, Nicolas Cage found it hard to take care of the lizard properly because he was very busy. So, in 2013, he decided to give the lizard to the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, Illinois.

LEWIS - Cage owned a pet cat named Lewis. During an interview with David Letterman in 2010, he shared a story about trying magic mushrooms with Lewis. He mentioned that his cat would sneak into the fridge and take the mushrooms. One day, Cage decided to try them too. He laughed while recalling that after eating the mushrooms, he lay on his bed, and Lewis lay on the table. He joked that it seemed like Lewis was truly his brother.
